GCC-origin goods and the customs exemption

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are members of the GCC customs union, and goods of GCC national origin enter Kuwait free of customs duties when accompanied by a valid certificate of origin. Goods of foreign origin already cleared in the Kingdom are treated under the customs union rules and may attract duties in Kuwait depending on their situation. So we ask traders for the commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list before loading.

The truck leaves the Saudi crossing once the export papers are stamped, then enters the Kuwaiti crossing, where the broker files the customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list. When the papers have been sent ahead, this usually takes hours.
