Why is Jeddah the best starting point for Tunisia?
Jeddah’s position on the Red Sea makes it the closest of the Kingdom’s major ports to the Suez Canal. A ship leaving here doesn’t sail around the Arabian Peninsula like ships leaving the Gulf; it heads straight north to the Mediterranean. That means fewer days at sea, often a lower cost, and more frequent sailings, since Jeddah Islamic Port is one of the busiest in the region.
For the same reason we send many shipments from other cities to Tunisia through Jeddah, even when the customer lives in Riyadh or Madinah. For those living in Jeddah itself, the shipment goes from home to port almost the same day.
| Stage | What happens | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and packing | Dismantling, packing and inventory at your home or warehouse | One day for a flat, two for a villa |
| Loading and papers | Loading the container, issuing the bill of lading and export | 2 – 5 days depending on the sailing |
| Sea voyage | From Jeddah through the Suez Canal to Radès | 12 – 18 days |
| Clearance and delivery | Customs inspection in Radès, then delivery | 3 – 7 days |

Packing furniture in Jeddah: humidity comes first
Humidity in Jeddah is high most of the year, and a container closed at sea for weeks traps any moisture that went in with it. So in Jeddah we pay attention to something nobody might notice in a dry city: that your belongings go into the container completely dry, and stay that way until Tunisia.

- We place moisture-absorbing sachets inside cartons, between furniture pieces and in the container’s corners.
- Sofas and mattresses are wrapped in plastic and then moving blankets, and never wrapped damp after cleaning.
- Appliances are drained of water and left open for a day before packing.
- Natural wood and antiques are wrapped in breathable paper before the carton.
- Chandeliers, mirrors and glass go into foam-lined wooden crates.
- Books and papers go into small, well-sealed cartons, as they are the first to suffer from humidity.
After packing, each box is marked with its number and room, and its contents are logged on the inventory that travels with the shipment to Tunisian customs.
Loading the container at Jeddah port
For a private container, it arrives on its truck at your villa or our warehouse, the furniture is loaded in a planned order, then the container is closed, sealed and taken to Jeddah Islamic Port. For a shared container, your items go to the consolidation warehouse, are marked with your number, then loaded alongside other shipments heading to Tunisia.

- Heavy pieces and large appliances on the container floor.
- Dismantled wardrobes and bed frames standing along the sides and strapped.
- Medium cartons on top of them, fragile pieces at the very top.
- Gaps filled so nothing shifts with the ship’s movement.
- The load is strapped, and the container closed with a seal whose number goes on the bill of lading.
Car shipping from Jeddah to Tunisia
From Jeddah, cars travel inside a closed container, which is safer than open shipping, especially on a route that calls at more than one port. We fit a tailored protective cover, chock and strap the wheels, and photograph the car from every side before closing the container so its condition is documented.

- One car alone: in a 20 ft container.
- A car with furniture: in a 40 ft container, the car on one side and the furniture secured on the other.
- Two cars: in a 40 ft container, sometimes on a steel rack that holds one car above the other.
Car papers from Jeddah: a valid registration, no fines or liens, a vehicle export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, and copies of the owner’s passport and iqama. Before booking, check Tunisia’s car import rules for your case, as they differ between residents abroad, returning residents and ordinary importers.
Air freight from Jeddah to Tunisia
From King Abdulaziz International Airport we send parcels and urgent items to Tunis–Carthage, arriving within two to five working days. It’s the right choice for what can’t wait for the sea: documents, small devices, clothes and essentials for the first weeks, trade samples and gifts.

Air cargo is charged on the chargeable weight, the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Large light boxes are charged on their size, so we help you spread your items into suitable boxes before weighing.
Serving Jeddah and its surroundings
We collect from every Jeddah district: Al Rawdah, Al Hamra, Al Shati, North and South Obhur, Al Safa, Al Marwah, Al Naeem, Al Salamah, Al Zahra, Al Faisaliyah, Al Bawadi, Al Rehab, Al Naseem, Al Samer, Al Ajwad, Al Harazat and more. We also collect from Makkah, Taif, Rabigh, Al Lith and Al Kamil, and bring the items to Jeddah to sail from its port.
Shipping commercial goods from Jeddah
Jeddah is a major trading hub, and a wide range of goods leaves it for Tunisia: clothing and fabrics, perfumes and incense, appliances and packaged foods. We collect the goods from the supplier or your warehouse, stack them on pallets, and prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin when needed. Small orders go in a shared container; large ones in a private container sealed in Jeddah and opened only in Radès.
Documents for shipping from Jeddah to Tunisia
- Copies of the sender’s and receiver’s passports, plus the iqama for residents of the Kingdom.
- A numbered inventory in Arabic or French.
- A commercial invoice and packing list for goods.
- Car export papers if a car is part of the shipment.
- The bill of lading, issued at loading.
Arrival in Radès and clearance
Before the ship arrives, we send the documents to the broker in Tunisia, who prepares the customs declaration. On arrival the container is inspected, the duties due are paid after your approval, and the shipment leaves for your address. Customs duties are paid in Tunisia and vary with the type of goods and the receiver’s status; we explain before shipping what is paid there so you aren’t caught off guard.
Prohibited items to know about
- Gas cylinders, fuel, pressurised aerosols and solvents.
- Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
- Medicines in commercial quantities or without a prescription.
- Fresh food, meat, plants and soil.
- Loose lithium batteries by air.
Tips from our experience with Jeddah–Tunisia shipments
- Book at least two weeks before your move, as shared containers have closing dates.
- Don’t wash rugs and sofas the day before shipping; do it several days earlier so they dry fully.
- Photograph your furniture before packing, and keep the photos until you receive it in Tunisia.
- Keep passports, certificates, jewellery and the medicines you need in your bag.
- If a car is included, start its export papers before booking the container.
