The short version:
- Cheapest option: a shared container, where you pay only for the cubic metres you use.
- Fastest option: air freight, charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater.
- Usual arrival port: Radès, near Tunis, with onward delivery to Sfax, Sousse, Bizerte and the other governorates.
- Car shipping: inside a closed container, covered and strapped, with Saudi export papers prepared.
Shipping methods from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia and when to use each
Tunisia is far from the Kingdom by road, and the land route crosses several countries and borders, so we don’t use it for customers. The practical choice is the sea for large volumes and the air for anything that can’t wait. This table sums up the difference before we go into detail:
| Method | Best for | Approx. time | Charged by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shared container | One or two rooms, personal boxes, appliances | 20 – 35 days | Cubic metre |
| 20 ft container | Small to medium flat, or one car | 18 – 30 days | Whole container |
| 40 ft container | Full house, or a car with furniture | 18 – 30 days | Whole container |
| Air freight | Parcels, documents, urgent or valuable items | 2 – 5 days | Kilo (actual or volumetric) |
Sea freight to Radès port
Most people shipping to Tunisia choose the sea for a simple reason: a cubic metre in a container costs far less than a kilo on a plane. The container leaves Jeddah Islamic Port or King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, passes through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean and reaches Radès, the port that receives most containers arriving in Tunisia.
If you have only a few items, a shared container is the right fit. We consolidate your shipment with other customers’ cargo heading to Tunisia, and you pay for your volume only. If you are moving a whole house or shipping a car, a private container is better: it is sealed in front of you in the Kingdom and only opened for customs inspection in Tunisia.
- A 20 ft container holds about 28 to 30 cubic metres of packed furniture, roughly a two- or three-bedroom flat.
- A 40 ft container holds about 58 to 60 cubic metres, enough for a full house or a car with furniture.
- The real volume depends on the shape of the pieces, since sofas and wardrobes leave gaps that can’t all be filled.

Air freight to Tunisia
Air freight is the answer when time matters more than cost: official documents, permitted medicines with their prescription, clothes and essentials for the first days after a move, trade samples, or a valuable piece you don’t want sitting at sea for weeks. The shipment reaches Tunis–Carthage airport within two to five working days of handing it to us.
Keep in mind that air cargo is charged on the chargeable weight, the greater of the actual and volumetric weight. A large light box, like a box of pillows, may be charged on its size rather than its weight. That’s why we suggest working out the volumetric weight before you decide.

Shipping prices from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
The price is set once we know the type and volume of your items, the collection city in the Kingdom and the delivery city in Tunisia. These starting prices give you a first idea to plan around:
| Shipment | Method | Price |

| Full bedroom set | Sea | From SAR 2,580 |
| Majlis or living room | Sea | From SAR 1,840 |
| Appliances and kitchen | Sea | From SAR 1,650 |

| Parcels and personal effects | Air | From SAR 27 per kg |

For the exact price of your shipment, send us your list of items or photos, and you’ll receive a detailed quote showing what’s included in packing, transport and clearance.
What makes a shipment cost more or less?
- Volume in cubic metres: every extra metre in a shared container counts, so careful dismantling saves real space.
- Container type: shared is cheaper for small volumes; private is better value once you reach about half a container.
- Collection city: shipping from a city near the port costs less than from an inland city needing a longer road leg.
- Delivery city in Tunisia: Tunis and its surroundings are closer than the south of the country.
- Special packing: wooden crates for glass and antiques add cost, but protect pieces that can’t be replaced.
- Charges in Tunisia: customs duties and taxes are paid at destination and vary with the goods and the receiver’s status.
Shipping furniture and personal effects to Tunisia
A family returning to Tunisia after years in the Kingdom isn’t shipping furniture only; it is shipping a whole home. So we start with a visit or a video call to see your belongings, then suggest what is worth shipping and what may be cheaper to sell here than to ship.

On collection day the crew arrives with all the packing materials:
- Wardrobes and beds are dismantled, and their screws kept in numbered bags labelled with each piece.
- Sofas and mattresses are wrapped in plastic, then in moving blankets.
- Appliances go into double-wall cartons; the fridge and washer are emptied and dried a day before loading.
- Glass, mirrors and paintings go into wooden crates or protective frames.
- Every box carries a number matching a line in the inventory that customs will ask for.
In Tunisia our agent receives the container after clearance, delivers it to your address, and reassembles the furniture if that’s part of the agreement.
Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Tunisia
The car is shipped inside a closed container, not exposed on a ship’s deck, so it arrives clean and free of scratches. We put a protective cover over it, chock the wheels and strap it to the container floor. It can travel alone in a 20 ft container, or with your furniture in a 40 ft container if Tunisian customs allow that in your case.

Before shipping you will need:
- A valid registration (istimara) in the shipper’s name.
- A vehicle export request through Absher or the traffic department, with the Saudi plates handed in.
- Confirmation that the car has no outstanding fines or liens.
- An empty car, since personal belongings can’t be shipped inside it.
- A check with Tunisian customs on age and engine rules before booking, as they differ by importer status.
Shipping commercial goods to Tunisia
A trader sending goods to Tunisia needs something different from a family moving house. Goods are shipped on shrink-wrapped pallets, with quantities and weights listed on a commercial invoice and packing list, because Tunisian customs assess duties on the value and type of goods. We arrange the pallets so they don’t shift during the voyage, and send a copy of the documents to the broker before the ship arrives.
- Small quantities: one or two pallets in a shared container, charged per cubic metre or ton.
- Large quantities: your own 20 or 40 ft container, sealed in the Kingdom and opened in Radès.
- Samples and urgent orders: sent by air, with the main quantity following by sea.
Some goods need certificates before entering Tunisia, such as food, cosmetics and electrical appliances. Ask us about your goods before packing and we’ll tell you what the importer will need there.
Cargo insurance
Good packing prevents most damage, but the sea voyage is long and passes through more than one port. That’s why we offer cargo insurance calculated as a percentage of the value you declare. We recommend it for cars, expensive appliances and furniture that’s hard to replace, and we photograph the condition of the pieces before loading so any claim is clear.
Documents needed to ship to Tunisia
- Copies of the sender’s and receiver’s passports, plus the iqama for residents of the Kingdom.
- A detailed inventory in Arabic or French, ideally numbered box by box.
- A commercial invoice for goods shipped for sale.
- The sea or air bill of lading, which we issue at loading.
- Car papers if any: the registration and the vehicle export document from the traffic department.
If you are a Tunisian returning to settle in Tunisia, you may be eligible for customs relief on personal effects under the rules in force there. We review the paperwork for your case before the container is closed, so the shipment isn’t held up in Radès.
Customs clearance at Radès port
Most delays don’t come from the sea, but from a missing paper or a description that doesn’t match what’s in the boxes. So we check the inventory against what was actually loaded, and send the documents to the broker in Tunisia before the ship arrives. When the container lands, the broker files the customs declaration, attends the inspection, pays the duties due after your approval, and the shipment is released.
Prohibited and restricted items
- Flammables: gas cylinders, fuel, solvents, pressurised aerosols.
- Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
- Medicines in commercial quantities, or prescription drugs without a prescription.
- Fresh food, meat, plants and seeds, which have their own health requirements.
- Large batteries and devices with lithium batteries, especially by air.
If you’re unsure about an item, ask us before packing. It’s much easier than taking it out at the port.
Where we deliver in Tunisia
We deliver in Tunis, Ben Arous, Ariana and Manouba, and in Sfax, Sousse, Monastir, Nabeul, Bizerte, Gabès, Kairouan, Medenine and more. If your city is far from Radès, our partner there handles the inland transport after clearance, and we let you know when it will reach your door.

- Write the room name and number on every box; it saves time when setting up the new home.
