For those in a hurry:

  • Riyadh has no seaport, so the shipment travels by road to Jeddah or Dammam, then sails.
  • The Jeddah route is shorter by sea to Turkey; Dammam works when its sailing is sooner.
  • Parcels and urgent items fly from King Khalid Airport.
  • Cars travel in a closed container, after confirming the rules for bringing them into Turkey.

How does your shipment get from Riyadh to Turkey?

Route How it works Time to Mersin Time to Istanbul
Riyadh → Jeddah Islamic Port Truck about 950 km, then the Red Sea and Suez Canal 18 – 25 days 22 – 30 days
Riyadh → Dammam port Truck or rail via Riyadh Dry Port, then around the peninsula 25 – 32 days 28 – 35 days
Riyadh → Istanbul Airport Air freight from King Khalid International Airport 3 – 5 working days 3 – 5 working days

We choose the route once we know your address in Turkey and the sailing date. If you live in Antalya, Adana or Gaziantep, your container usually goes to Mersin; if you live in Istanbul, Bursa or Sapanca, it goes to Ambarlı in Istanbul, so the road leg inside Turkey after the port stays short.

We collect from every Riyadh district

From north Riyadh: Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid, Al Qairawan and Al Sahafa. From the centre: Al Olaya, Al Sulimaniyah, Al Malaz, Al Murabba and Al Wurud. From the east, west and south: Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan, Al Sulay, Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq, Al Aziziyah, Al Shifa and Al Hazm. We also collect from Al Kharj, Diriyah, Al Muzahmiyah and Huraymila. Where the street is too narrow for a large truck, a smaller one brings your belongings to our warehouse and the container is loaded there.

Packing furniture in Riyadh villas and flats

Riyadh homes are usually spacious, with large sofas, long dining tables, TV units and bookcases. The journey to Turkey goes by road, sea and road again, so each piece is lifted and set down more than once. That’s why we pack each item to survive every stage:

Furniture packing from Riyadh to Turkey
  • Large sofas: wrapped in plastic first, then moving blankets, with corners protected by heavy board.
  • Dining tables: legs removed, the top wrapped separately, and glass surfaces protected with a wooden frame.
  • TV units and bookcases: dismantled, with every piece numbered along with its screws.
  • Electrical appliances: double-wall cartons, with each appliance’s brand and serial number on the inventory, as Turkish customs require.
  • Clothes and soft furnishings: in numbered cartons marked with the room name.

Loading the container in Riyadh

At villas the container stands on its truck at the door, so the furniture is loaded and sealed in front of you. For flats we first move the items to our warehouse. Either way the load is built in layers: heavy at the bottom, fragile on top, with gaps filled so nothing moves on the long road to the port or at sea.

Loading the container from Riyadh to Turkey
  1. Under about 12 cubic metres: a shared container.
  2. 12 to 20 cubic metres: we compare shared and a 20 ft container for you.
  3. Over 20 cubic metres: a private 20 or 40 ft container.

Car shipping from Riyadh to Turkey

We collect the car from your home in Riyadh or our warehouse, fit a tailored protective cover, roll it into the container on dollies and secure it with chocks and straps. It travels in the same container from Riyadh to the arrival port in Turkey.

Car shipping from Riyadh to Turkey

The key thing to know is that bringing cars into Turkey is restricted: temporary import is usually tied to residence and the car’s age, and permanent import carries high taxes. So we start by reviewing your case with the broker in Turkey, then prepare the car’s papers in Riyadh:

  1. A valid registration in your name, with no fines or liens.
  2. A vehicle export request through Absher or the Riyadh traffic department, with the plates handed in.
  3. Copies of your passport, iqama and driving licence.
  4. An empty car with no personal belongings.

Air freight from Riyadh to Turkey

Parcels and urgent items leave King Khalid International Airport for Istanbul Airport and arrive within three to five working days, then go on to any province. It suits documents, clothes, small devices and traders’ samples.

It’s charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight. Example: a 60 × 40 × 40 cm box weighing 8 kg has a volumetric weight of 96,000 ÷ 6,000 = 16 kg, so it’s charged at 16 kg. Two small full boxes are better value than one large box that’s half air.

Shipping goods from Riyadh to traders in Turkey

Many kinds of goods leave Riyadh for Turkey: perfumes and incense, packaged dates, clothing, appliances and spare parts. We collect them from the supplier or warehouse, stack them on pallets and prepare the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Food products usually need health certificates, so we ask about them before shipping.

Papers for shipping from Riyadh to Turkey

  • Copies of the sender’s and receiver’s passports, plus the iqama for residents of the Kingdom.
  • A detailed inventory in English or Turkish, with appliance brands and serial numbers.
  • Proof of your status in Turkey: residence permit, rental contract, tapu or return certificate.
  • A commercial invoice for goods, and car export papers if any.

Clearance in Turkey

Before the container arrives, the broker in Turkey receives copies of the papers and prepares the declaration. Turkish customs match the name on the passport to the bill of lading exactly, check the inventory, and treat new items in their original cartons as goods. For personal effects, your presence or a power of attorney is usually required, and the shipment must arrive within a set period of your entry into Turkey, so we coordinate the shipping date with your travel.

Mistakes that delay Riyadh shipments to Turkey

  1. Writing the name on the bill of lading differently from the passport, even by one letter.
  2. A general inventory with no appliance brands or serial numbers.
  3. Shipping new appliances in their cartons as if they were used belongings.
  4. Sending the container long before or long after your own travel.
  5. Booking car shipping before confirming the entry rules.

From the Turkish port to your door

The shipment doesn’t end at the quay. After clearance we arrange road transport to your city, whether that’s either side of Istanbul, Bursa, Sapanca or Kocaeli in the Marmara region, Ankara or Konya in central Anatolia, Antalya, Adana or Mersin in the south, Trabzon or Samsun on the Black Sea, or İzmir in the west. We agree on an arrival time with you, carry everything up to your floor and reassemble what we dismantled if you ask.

Do you need cargo insurance?

If your shipment includes a car, electronics, antiques or furniture of special value, insurance is worth its small cost. It is calculated as a percentage of the declared value and covers the shipment by land and sea. We record the condition of your items with photos during packing, so there’s no dispute later about how they looked before shipping.

How to choose a shipping company to Turkey

  1. Ask about the arrival port: a company that knows its work picks the port from your address rather than sending everything to one port.
  2. Ask for a price breakdown: does it include packing, transport to the port, clearance and delivery?
  3. Check the inventory: Turkish customs want brands and serial numbers, and a weak inventory delays release.
  4. Ask who packs: the company’s own crew or casual labour.
  5. Follow-up: will you know the sailing and arrival dates, and who to call in Turkey?
