The Eastern Province route in brief:
- King Abdulaziz Port is close to your home, and loading is quick.
- The voyage goes around the Arabian Peninsula, so it’s about a week longer than from Jeddah.
- The Jeddah alternative is available if you want faster arrival at sea-freight cost.
- For traders and factories: pallets, full containers and complete commercial paperwork.
Dammam or Jeddah? Comparing the two routes to Turkey
| Option | Route | Time to Mersin | When we choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Direct sea | King Abdulaziz Port → Gulf → Red Sea → Suez → Mersin | 25 – 32 days | Full containers, goods and cars |
| Road then sea | Dammam → Jeddah by truck, about 1,350 km → Mersin | 20 – 26 days | When time matters more and Jeddah’s sailing is sooner |
| Air | King Fahd Airport → Istanbul Airport | 3 – 5 days | Parcels, samples and urgent items |
We compare both options when you book. Sometimes a ship leaving Dammam in two days arrives before one leaving Jeddah in two weeks, and sometimes the opposite.
Shipping goods and equipment from the Eastern Province to Turkey
The Eastern Province is an industrial hub, and many commercial shipments leave it for Turkey: plastic products and chemicals that are permitted for shipping, spare parts and workshop equipment, building materials and consumer goods. We ship for factories and traders in Dammam, Jubail, Qatif and Al Ahsa:
- Pallets: goods stacked, shrink-wrapped and secured inside the container.
- Full containers: loaded at your warehouse and sealed, opened only by Turkish customs.
- Commercial papers: commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, plus conformity certificates if required.
- Heavy equipment: we choose the right container and secure it with straps and bracing.
Chemicals, batteries and some products have special requirements for sea freight, so we review them before booking.

Moving your home from Dammam to Turkey
Many families in the Eastern Province move to Turkey after years of work, or furnish a home they bought there. We start with an inspection of your belongings, then pack each room in the way it needs:

- Children’s rooms: beds and desks dismantled, and toys in clear boxes with a distinctive colour.
- Bedrooms: wardrobes and beds dismantled, with screws numbered.
- Kitchen: dishes wrapped one by one, and appliances in double-wall cartons with their brand and serial number recorded.
- Living room: sofas in plastic then blankets, and glass tables in a wooden frame.
Loading in Dammam
Shared containers are consolidated at our Dammam warehouse, with each customer’s shipment given a colour mark and its own number so it’s delivered complete. Private containers come to your door or warehouse. Being close to the port means the container reaches the quay the same day or the next.

Car shipping from Dammam to Turkey
We prepare the car in our warehouse, fit a protective cover, load it into the container and secure it with chocks and straps. A 40 ft container can take two cars on a steel rack, or one car with household furniture.

But before booking, we review Turkey’s car entry rules for your case, as they’re restrictive: temporary import is usually tied to residence and the car’s age, and permanent import carries high taxes. The papers from Dammam: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, and copies of your passport and iqama.
Air freight from Dammam to Turkey
From King Fahd International Airport to Istanbul Airport in three to five working days, for parcels, trade samples, urgent spare parts, documents and personal effects. It’s charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so keep boxes full.

Eastern Province cities we collect from
Dammam and its districts: Al Faisaliyah, Al Shati, Al Noor, Al Rayyan, Al Fayha, Al Mazruiyah, Al Anwar, Al Shulah and King Fahd Suburb. Khobar: Al Olaya, Al Rakah, the Golden Belt and Al Thuqbah. Plus Dhahran, Qatif, Saihat, Safwa, Ras Tanura, Jubail, Nairiyah, Al Ahsa and Abqaiq.
Documents required
- For personal effects: copies of your passport and iqama, a detailed inventory in English or Turkish, and proof of your status in Turkey.
- For goods: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and the importer’s details in Turkey.
- For cars: the registration and export papers.
- The bill of lading, issued at loading.
Customs in Turkey
Turkish customs are thorough: they match the name on the passport to the bill of lading, check the inventory, ask for appliance brands and serial numbers, and treat new items in original cartons as goods. Personal effects have conditions linked to your residence and your entry date into Turkey, while commercial goods are charged by type, value and origin. We send the papers to the broker before arrival so work starts early.
What can’t be shipped
- Flammable materials, explosives and weapons.
- Hazardous chemicals without classification and permits.
- Meat and fresh food.
- Loose lithium batteries by air, and loose car batteries.
Steps to ship from Dammam
- You send the shipment details and delivery address in Turkey.
- We compare the Dammam and Jeddah routes and choose the arrival port.
- You receive the price, and we review the papers.
- Packing, inventory and loading.
- Sailing and follow-up.
- Clearance and delivery.
From the Turkish port to your door
The shipment doesn’t end at the quay. After clearance we arrange road transport to your city, whether that’s either side of Istanbul, Bursa, Sapanca or Kocaeli in the Marmara region, Ankara or Konya in central Anatolia, Antalya, Adana or Mersin in the south, Trabzon or Samsun on the Black Sea, or İzmir in the west. We agree on an arrival time with you, carry everything up to your floor and reassemble what we dismantled if you ask.
Do you need cargo insurance?
If your shipment includes a car, electronics, antiques or furniture of special value, insurance is worth its small cost. It is calculated as a percentage of the declared value and covers the shipment by land and sea. We record the condition of your items with photos during packing, so there’s no dispute later about how they looked before shipping.
How to choose a shipping company to Turkey
- Ask about the arrival port: a company that knows its work picks the port from your address rather than sending everything to one port.
- Ask for a price breakdown: does it include packing, transport to the port, clearance and delivery?
- Check the inventory: Turkish customs want brands and serial numbers, and a weak inventory delays release.
- Ask who packs: the company’s own crew or casual labour.
- Follow-up: will you know the sailing and arrival dates, and who to call in Turkey?
