Who ships from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia?
Abu Dhabi is a capital of ministries, oil companies and universities, and many of our customers there are Saudi employees who’ve finished their work or residents who’ve moved to the Kingdom, along with families living in villas in Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Al Raha and Al Mushrif, or in flats on Al Reem Island and in Al Khalidiyah. We ship from Al Ain too, and from Al Ruwais and Madinat Zayed, where a lot of people work for industrial and oil companies.
How does your shipment travel from Abu Dhabi to the Kingdom?
| Stage | Details | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and packing | At your home or office in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, with dismantling and inventory | One day |
| Abu Dhabi → Ghuwaifat crossing | The coastal road heading west via Al Ruwais | About four hours from the city |
| Crossing and clearance | Ghuwaifat, then Al Batha | Hours to a day |
| Al Batha → your Saudi city | Al Ahsa and Dammam first, then Riyadh and the west | Hours to two days |
From Abu Dhabi the truck doesn’t pass through any congested cities on its way to the crossing, so it usually reaches the border within half a day. If we’re collecting from Al Ain, we add about two hours to the journey.
How long does a shipment from Abu Dhabi take?
| Destination city in the Kingdom | Approx. time from Abu Dhabi |
|---|---|
| Al Ahsa, Dammam and Khobar | One to two working days |
| Riyadh and Al Kharj | Usually two working days |
| Qassim and Hail | Two to three working days |
| Jeddah, Makkah and Taif | Three to four working days |
| Madinah and Yanbu | Three to five working days |
| Abha, Jazan and Najran | Four to six working days |
These are the shortest times of any emirate, because Abu Dhabi is closer to the crossing. They’re counted from the day of loading.
How much does shipping from Abu Dhabi to the Kingdom cost?

| SUV | Enclosed car carrier | From SAR 1,380 |
| Documents and urgent parcels | Air | By weight and size; send them and we reply with the price |
These are starting prices from your door in Abu Dhabi to your door in the Kingdom, and since Abu Dhabi is closer to the crossing, no extra distance is added as it is for the northern emirates. The price depends on the volume of your belongings, the floor, the services you need and the Saudi city.
These prices don’t include Saudi customs duties or VAT where they apply, as with commercial goods, new appliances and cars, and we’ll explain that to you before loading.
Which shipping method suits you from Abu Dhabi?
| Method | Best for | Approx. time to Riyadh | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Land by truck | Furniture, appliances, goods and cars | Two to three working days | The most used option, door to door |
| Sea by container | Full containers and heavy goods | A few days longer than land | From Jebel Ali or Khalifa to Dammam or Jeddah |
| Air | Urgent parcels and documents | One to two working days | Charged on volumetric weight, and dearer for large volumes |
Land is the best fit for most shipments from Abu Dhabi, given how close it is to the crossing. Sea freight from Khalifa Port suits full containers to Dammam or Jeddah, and air freight from Abu Dhabi Airport is for urgent parcels.
Shipping from Al Ain
Al Ain is an inland city in Abu Dhabi emirate on the border with Oman, with spacious villas and farms. We collect from there directly, and the truck takes the road to Abu Dhabi and then heads west to Ghuwaifat. If your home is on a farm, send us the location and a photo of the last stretch of road.
Al Ruwais and Madinat Zayed
Al Ruwais and Madinat Zayed in Al Dhafra are closer to the crossing than Abu Dhabi city itself, and they’re home to staff housing for industrial and oil companies. We collect from the housing after coordinating with its management, and reach Ghuwaifat in just a few hours.
Packing furniture in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi villas have large furniture, chandeliers and fine carpets, while flats on Al Reem have modern furniture and glass. We pack each piece the way it needs:
- Chandeliers taken down and placed in padded wooden crates.
- Carpets rolled, tied and wrapped.
- Sofas and majlis seating in plastic, then blankets.
- Bedrooms and wardrobes dismantled, with screws numbered.
- Glass and mirrors in upright frames.
- Appliances in double-wall cartons.
Loading in Abu Dhabi
We book the tower’s freight lift or park at the villa door, use a lifting platform for heavy pieces, and choose the truck to suit the volume:

| Truck type | Best for | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Shared truck | Cartons, one or two rooms, a few appliances | Per kg, per item or per cubic metre |
| Private dyna or medium truck | A small flat or an office | One price for the whole trip |
| 13 to 15 m closed trailer | A villa or large home, or goods | One price for the whole trip |
| Refrigerated truck | Dates, food and sensitive medicines | Per pallet or per trip |
| Enclosed car carrier | One or more cars | Per car, by size |
The load is built in layers and strapped down, and we send you a photo of it before the truck sets off.
Car shipping from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia
We collect the car from your home in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain, clean and photograph it, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier and strap it down.

The Kingdom allows the import of used cars no more than five years old under the current requirements, provided they meet Saudi specifications, with 5% customs duty and 15% VAT. These conditions can change, so we review your car’s details with the broker before booking. Its papers: the car’s ownership card, the export certificate and export plates from Abu Dhabi Traffic, the purchase invoice, and a copy of your passport and ID.
The customs exemption for used furniture in the Kingdom
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) exempts personal effects and used household items brought in by a Saudi returning after living abroad, and by a foreigner coming to live in the Kingdom for the first time, provided they’re used, meant for personal rather than commercial use, and arrive within six months of their owner. Cars aren’t covered by this exemption, and VAT is still due on anything the exemption doesn’t cover. Usually required:
- A copy of the Saudi national ID, or the Saudi iqama for residents.
- A copy of the passport.
- Proof of your previous residence in the UAE, or that you’re arriving for the first time.
- A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
- An authorisation for the customs broker through the FASAH platform.
New appliances still in their boxes and in quantity may be treated as goods subject to duties and VAT, and we’ll tell you before loading.
Goods from Abu Dhabi to the Kingdom
We ship goods for companies and traders from Abu Dhabi, Mussafah and the industrial areas on pallets or in a full trailer, with their invoices and certificates of origin. For full containers we arrange sea freight from Khalifa Port to Dammam or Jeddah.
Documents required for shipping from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia
- A copy of the sender’s passport and Emirates ID or residence visa.
- A copy of the receiver’s Saudi national ID or iqama.
- A numbered packing list.
- For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list, plus a conformity certificate through the SABER platform for items that need one.
- For cars: the ownership card and the export certificate.
- The broker’s authorisation through FASAH.
Crossing from Ghuwaifat to Al Batha
The truck leaves the Ghuwaifat crossing once the UAE export papers are stamped, then enters the Al Batha crossing, the only land crossing between the two countries, where the broker files the Saudi customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list. When the papers have been sent ahead, this usually takes a few hours, and the truck then carries on to your city. From Abu Dhabi the crossing is close, so we can load in the morning and reach the border the same day.
Delivery in Saudi cities
We deliver to Dammam, Khobar, Al Ahsa, Riyadh, Qassim, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Abha and elsewhere, and we carry the furniture in, reassemble it and check it with you against the packing list.

Air freight from Abu Dhabi to Saudi Arabia
Urgent parcels and documents go by air from Abu Dhabi Airport to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam, arriving within one to two working days. It’s charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, which you can estimate with our volumetric weight calculator. For furniture and appliances, land freight is far cheaper and only a few days slower.
Cargo insurance
We recommend insuring cars, expensive appliances and antiques for a small percentage of their declared value, and we photograph your belongings before loading in every case, so you have a record to refer back to.
