Who ships from Dubai to Saudi Arabia?

Dubai is the UAE’s biggest city by population and trade, and most of our customers in this direction come from there: Saudis who’ve finished their work or studies and gone back to the Kingdom, residents who’ve moved with their jobs from Dubai to Riyadh, Dammam or Jeddah, companies opening branches in the Kingdom, and traders bringing in goods from the markets of Deira, Al Quoz and Jebel Ali. Most homes in Dubai are flats in towers in areas such as Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay, or villas in Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah, Al Barsha and Mirdif.

Take photos of the rooms and send them over, and we’ll reply with the price and the date of the next trip.

These prices don’t include Saudi customs duties or VAT where they apply, as with commercial goods, new appliances and cars, and we’ll explain that to you before loading.

Land, sea or air from Dubai?

Method Best for Approx. time to Riyadh Notes
Land by truck Furniture, appliances, goods and cars Two to three working days The most used option, door to door
Sea by container Full containers and heavy goods A few days longer than land From Jebel Ali or Khalifa to Dammam or Jeddah
Air Urgent parcels and documents One to two working days Charged on volumetric weight, and dearer for large volumes

For homes and offices, land is the natural choice, because it’s door to door and faster overall. Sea freight from Jebel Ali suits traders shipping full containers to Dammam or Jeddah port, and air freight from Dubai Airport suits urgent parcels and documents only.

Dubai towers and the furniture move permit

Most towers and residential communities in Dubai require residents to get a permit from the building management before taking furniture out, and they set the times for the freight lift and where the truck can park. Ask for this permit a few days before the move and give us the building’s name, and we’ll arrange the timing with you and protect the lift and corridors with covers and boards.

Goods from Dubai’s markets and Jebel Ali

We collect traders’ goods from warehouses in Al Quoz, Jebel Ali and the free zone and from shops in Deira, stack them on pallets, and prepare the invoice, certificate of origin and packing list. Goods of GCC origin enter the Kingdom free of duties with a valid certificate of origin, while foreign-origin goods are treated under the customs union rules, and some products need a conformity certificate through the SABER platform.

Packing furniture in Dubai

Furniture packing from Dubai to Saudi Arabia

Furniture in Dubai is mostly modern, with a lot of glass and large screens, so we prepare the right packing for each piece:

  • Glass tables and mirrors in wooden frames or foam corners.
  • Screens in padded boxes.
  • Sofas in plastic, then blankets.
  • Bedrooms and wardrobes dismantled, with screws numbered.
  • Dishes and crystal wrapped piece by piece.
  • Appliances in double-wall cartons, with the fridge emptied a day before.

Loading in Dubai and the type of truck

In towers we bring the furniture down in the freight lift to the service bay where the truck is parked, and at villas the truck stops at your door and is loaded in front of you. We choose the truck to suit the size of your belongings:

Loading the truck from Dubai to Saudi Arabia
Truck type Best for How it is priced
Shared truck Cartons, one or two rooms, a few appliances Per kg, per item or per cubic metre
Private dyna or medium truck A small flat or an office One price for the whole trip
13 to 15 m closed trailer A villa or large home, or goods One price for the whole trip
Refrigerated truck Dates, food and sensitive medicines Per pallet or per trip
Enclosed car carrier One or more cars Per car, by size

The load is built in layers and strapped down, and we send you a photo of it before the truck sets off.

Car shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia

We collect the car from your home in Dubai, clean it and photograph it from every side, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier and strap it down by the wheels.

Car shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia

The Kingdom allows the import of used cars no more than five years old under the current requirements, provided they meet Saudi specifications, with 5% customs duty and 15% VAT. These conditions can change, so we review your car’s details with the broker before booking. Its papers: the car’s ownership card, the export certificate and export plates from Dubai’s RTA (Roads and Transport Authority), the purchase invoice, and a copy of your passport and ID.

The customs exemption for used furniture in the Kingdom

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) exempts personal effects and used household items brought in by a Saudi returning after living abroad, and by a foreigner coming to live in the Kingdom for the first time, provided they’re used, meant for personal rather than commercial use, and arrive within six months of their owner. Cars aren’t covered by this exemption, and VAT is still due on anything the exemption doesn’t cover. Usually required:

  • A copy of the Saudi national ID, or the Saudi iqama for residents.
  • A copy of the passport.
  • Proof of your previous residence in the UAE, or that you’re arriving for the first time.
  • A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
  • An authorisation for the customs broker through the FASAH platform.

New appliances still in their boxes and in quantity may be treated as goods subject to duties and VAT, and we’ll tell you before loading.

Shipping goods from Dubai to the Kingdom

For traders we ship pallets in a shared truck, a full 15 m trailer, or a refrigerated truck for food, and we send copies of the papers to the broker before the truck reaches Al Batha so it isn’t kept waiting. For full containers we arrange sea freight from Jebel Ali to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam or Jeddah Islamic Port.

Documents required for shipping from Dubai to Saudi Arabia

  • A copy of the sender’s passport and Emirates ID or residence visa.
  • A copy of the receiver’s Saudi national ID or iqama.
  • A numbered packing list.
  • For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list, plus a conformity certificate through the SABER platform for items that need one.
  • For cars: the ownership card and the export certificate.
  • The broker’s authorisation through FASAH.

Crossing from Ghuwaifat to Al Batha

The truck leaves the Ghuwaifat crossing once the UAE export papers are stamped, then enters the Al Batha crossing, the only land crossing between the two countries, where the broker files the Saudi customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list. When the papers have been sent ahead, this usually takes a few hours, and the truck then carries on to your city. From Dubai in particular, the road to Ghuwaifat crosses almost the whole of Abu Dhabi emirate, so we time the departure for the truck to reach the crossing during working hours.

Delivery in Saudi cities

We deliver to Riyadh, Dammam, Khobar, Dhahran, Al Ahsa, Qassim, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Taif, Abha and elsewhere. The crew unloads the furniture, carries it inside and reassembles bedrooms and wardrobes if that’s part of the agreement, and you check the items against the packing list with us before signing.
