Who ships from Sharjah to Saudi Arabia?
Many Sharjah residents are families who work in Dubai but live in Sharjah because the rent is lower, and when they move to the Kingdom they move a whole home. Sharjah also has traders who buy from the wholesale markets and industrial areas, and students who’ve finished their studies at University City. Residential districts such as Al Nahda, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Al Taawun and Muwaileh are full of towers and apartment blocks, while the industrial areas have warehouses and furniture showrooms.
Your shipment’s journey from your door in Sharjah to your city
| Stage | Details | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and packing | At your home or warehouse in Sharjah, with dismantling and inventory | One day |
| Sharjah → Ghuwaifat crossing | Via Dubai and Abu Dhabi heading west | About seven hours |
| Crossing and clearance | Ghuwaifat, then Al Batha | Hours to a day |
| Al Batha → your Saudi city | Al Ahsa and Dammam first, then Riyadh and the west | Hours to two days |
The hardest part of the journey from Sharjah is getting out of the city and through Dubai at rush hour. So we load early in the morning or in the evening, and set off at night to get through Dubai easily.
When will your shipment from Sharjah arrive?

Industrial areas and wholesale markets
We collect straight from warehouses in Sharjah’s industrial areas and from furniture and appliance showrooms, stack the goods on pallets with a packing list, and prepare the invoice and certificate of origin. If you’ve bought new furniture for your home in the Kingdom, let us know, because new items may be treated as goods.
Traffic between Sharjah and Dubai
Anyone who lives in Sharjah knows the road to Dubai is jammed morning and evening. We plan loading and departure outside those hours, so the loaded truck isn’t stuck in traffic and we don’t miss our slot at the crossing.
Packing furniture in Sharjah

We prepare every piece for a journey of nearly a thousand kilometres:
- Sofas in plastic, then blankets.
- Bookcases dismantled or wrapped in blankets, with books in small cartons.
- China sets in divided cartons.
- Bedrooms dismantled, with screws numbered.
- Screens in padded boxes.
- Appliances in double-wall cartons.

In apartment blocks and towers we book the lift and protect the corridors, and at warehouses we load by forklift. We choose the truck to suit the volume:

| Private dyna or medium truck | A small flat or an office | One price for the whole trip |

| Refrigerated truck | Dates, food and sensitive medicines | Per pallet or per trip |
| Enclosed car carrier | One or more cars | Per car, by size |
The load is built in layers and strapped down, and we send you a photo of it before the truck sets off.
Car shipping from Sharjah to Saudi Arabia
We collect the car from your home in Sharjah, clean and photograph it, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier and strap it down.

The Kingdom allows the import of used cars no more than five years old under the current requirements, provided they meet Saudi specifications, with 5% customs duty and 15% VAT. These conditions can change, so we review your car’s details with the broker before booking. Its papers: the car’s ownership card, the export certificate and export plates from Sharjah’s RTA (Roads and Transport Authority), the purchase invoice, and a copy of your passport and ID.
The customs exemption for used furniture in the Kingdom
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) exempts personal effects and used household items brought in by a Saudi returning after living abroad, and by a foreigner coming to live in the Kingdom for the first time, provided they’re used, meant for personal rather than commercial use, and arrive within six months of their owner. Cars aren’t covered by this exemption, and VAT is still due on anything the exemption doesn’t cover. Usually required:
- A copy of the Saudi national ID, or the Saudi iqama for residents.
- A copy of the passport.
- Proof of your previous residence in the UAE, or that you’re arriving for the first time.
- A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
- An authorisation for the customs broker through the FASAH platform.
New appliances still in their boxes and in quantity may be treated as goods subject to duties and VAT, and we’ll tell you before loading.
Goods from Sharjah to the Kingdom
For traders we ship pallets in a shared truck or a full trailer, with their invoices, certificates of origin and conformity certificates where needed. We send the papers to the broker before the truck reaches Al Batha.
Documents required for shipping from Sharjah to Saudi Arabia
- A copy of the sender’s passport and Emirates ID or residence visa.
- A copy of the receiver’s Saudi national ID or iqama.
- A numbered packing list.
- For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list, plus a conformity certificate through the SABER platform for items that need one.
- For cars: the ownership card and the export certificate.
- The broker’s authorisation through FASAH.
Crossing from Ghuwaifat to Al Batha
The truck leaves the Ghuwaifat crossing once the UAE export papers are stamped, then enters the Al Batha crossing, the only land crossing between the two countries, where the broker files the Saudi customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list. When the papers have been sent ahead, this usually takes a few hours, and the truck then carries on to your city. From Sharjah the road to Ghuwaifat is about an hour longer than from Dubai, and we factor that into the departure time.
Delivery in Saudi cities
We deliver to Riyadh, Dammam, Khobar, Al Ahsa, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim and elsewhere, and we carry the furniture in, reassemble it and check it with you.

Air freight from Sharjah to Saudi Arabia
Urgent parcels and documents go by air from Sharjah Airport to Riyadh, Jeddah or Dammam, arriving within one to two working days. It’s charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, which you can estimate with our volumetric weight calculator. For furniture and appliances, land freight is far cheaper and only a few days slower.
Cargo insurance
We recommend insuring cars, expensive appliances and antiques for a small percentage of their declared value, and we photograph your belongings before loading in every case, so you have a record to refer back to.
