The shipment’s route from Riyadh to Oman
| Stage | Details | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and packing | At your home in Riyadh, with dismantling and inventory | One day |
| Riyadh → Empty Quarter crossing | Via Al Kharj and Haradh, then the Empty Quarter road | About a day and a half |
| Crossing and clearance | Empty Quarter, then Ramlat Khaylah | Hours |
| Crossing → your address | Ibri, then Muscat and the other wilayats | One day |
Before the Empty Quarter road, trucks from Riyadh went round through the UAE; now they cross the desert straight into Oman, saving hundreds of kilometres and the papers for a third country. We still keep the UAE route for some addresses in Buraimi and North Al Batinah.
Which crossing does your shipment from Riyadh use?
| Route | Crossing | Usually suits | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Empty Quarter road | Saudi Empty Quarter crossing → Omani Ramlat Khaylah crossing | Most shipments to Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah and Salalah | The Saudi road to the crossing is about 564 km from the Al Batha road junction through the desert |
| Via the UAE | Al Batha → Ghuwaifat, then the UAE–Oman crossings | Some shipments to Buraimi, North Al Batinah and Musandam | Needs extra transit papers; we use it when it suits the address better |
From Riyadh most of our shipments leave through the Empty Quarter crossing to Ramlat Khaylah, then Ibri and the road to Muscat. The desert road is long with no towns along it, so we make sure the truck is prepared and the papers complete before setting off.

Who ships from Riyadh to Oman?
Most of our customers on this route are Omani families finishing years of work or study in Riyadh, students who have graduated from its universities, staff of companies with branches in both countries, and traders sending Saudi goods to the markets of Muscat and Sohar. Some buy furniture from Riyadh showrooms and send it to their home in Oman with the showroom invoice.
The long road means planning matters: we set the loading date with you so the truck arrives on a day you are in Oman to receive it, and your belongings do not sit on the road or in a warehouse longer than needed.
Packing furniture in Riyadh

The road to Oman crosses the Empty Quarter, so we pack to withstand heat and vibration for long hours:
- Majlis seating and sofas in a layer of plastic, then moving blankets, with cushions in separate bags.
- Bedrooms and wardrobes dismantled, with each piece’s screws in a numbered bag.
- Screens in padded boxes, appliances in double-wall cartons.
- Dishes and crystal wrapped piece by piece in divided cartons.
- Fridges and washing machines emptied and dried a day before.
Loading in Riyadh and the truck type
At villas the truck stops at your door and is loaded in front of you; in apartment buildings we use the lift or an external hoist. We build the load in layers, heavy at the bottom and fragile on top, and strap it for a road of more than a thousand kilometres.

| Truck type | Best for | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Shared truck | Cartons, one or two rooms, a few appliances | Per item or per cubic metre |
| Private dyna or medium truck | A small flat or an office | One price for the whole trip |
| 13 to 15 m closed trailer | A villa or large home, or goods | One price for the whole trip |
| Refrigerated truck | Dates and sensitive food | Per pallet or per trip |
| Enclosed car carrier | One or more cars | Per car, by size |
A few items go on the shared truck with your own colour mark and number, so nothing gets mixed up at unloading.
Car shipping from Riyadh to Oman
We collect your car from your home in Riyadh, photograph it from every side, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier that keeps desert sand off it all the way.

Oman has conditions for importing used cars from GCC countries, set by the Royal Oman Police, including that a private car is less than seven years old, and that an export certificate issued by the car’s registration authority in its home country is presented instead of a clearance certificate. These conditions may be amended, so we review your car’s details with the broker in Oman before booking. Its papers from the Kingdom: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, the purchase invoice or sale contract, and a copy of your ID or iqama.
If you will drive your own car to Oman for a visit and bring it back, that is an ordinary crossing with valid insurance covering Oman and the car’s papers, and needs no shipping.
Delivery in Oman
After release at Ramlat Khaylah the truck continues to your address in Muscat, Seeb, Bawshar, Sohar, Nizwa or elsewhere. The crew unloads the furniture, carries it inside and reassembles bedrooms and wardrobes if that is part of the agreement, and then you check the items against the packing list with us.

Air freight from Riyadh to Oman
For parcels and documents that cannot wait for the long road, we send them by air from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Muscat International Airport or Salalah Airport, usually arriving in one to three working days including clearance.
Air suits:
- Documents, contracts and certificates.
- Small devices such as laptops and phones in their original boxes.
- Commercial samples and urgent spare parts.
- Gifts and light personal items.
It is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight; send us the weight and dimensions and we will work it out for you. The road to Oman is long, so air really makes a difference for urgent items, while land is far cheaper for furniture and appliances.
Shipping goods from Riyadh to Oman
For Riyadh traders and companies we ship packaged food, dates, personal-care products, appliances, spare parts and online-store products to Oman. We stack the goods on wrapped pallets, prepare the invoice, GCC certificate of origin and packing list, and ship on a shared or full truck, refrigerated for sensitive items.
Riyadh districts we collect from
Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid, Al Sahafa and Hittin in the north; Al Olaya, Al Sulimaniyah, Al Malaz and Al Muruj in the centre; Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan, Al Sulay and Al Nadhim in the east; Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban and Tuwaiq in the west; Al Aziziyah, Al Shifa and Al Hazm in the south; plus Al Kharj, Diriyah and Al Muzahmiyah.
Omani customs and used furniture
Used furniture and personal belongings of someone moving to live in Oman are usually treated as personal effects, provided they are for private use and the owner proves the move. The broker at the crossing handles them according to customs’ assessment of each shipment. Usually required:
- A copy of the receiver’s passport and Omani ID card or residence card.
- Proof of moving to live or work in Oman for non-Omanis, such as a work visa or lease.
- A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
- An official authorisation for the customs broker.
- Avoid shipping new boxed appliances in quantity, as they may be treated as goods.
Some items need prior permission, such as medicines in quantity. We tell you before packing so you can decide what to ship and what to carry with you.
GCC-origin goods and the customs exemption
Saudi Arabia and Oman are members of the GCC customs union, and goods of GCC national origin enter Oman free of customs duties when accompanied by a valid certificate of origin. Goods of foreign origin are treated under the customs union rules and may attract duties or Omani VAT depending on their situation. So we ask traders for the commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list before loading.
Documents required for shipping to Oman
- A copy of the sender’s ID or iqama and passport.
- A copy of the receiver’s passport and ID or residence card in Oman.
- A numbered packing list.
- For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list.
- For cars: the export certificate from the traffic department and the purchase invoice.
- An authorisation for the clearing company in Oman.
Crossing and clearance at the Empty Quarter crossing
The truck leaves the Saudi Empty Quarter crossing once the export papers are stamped, then enters the Omani Ramlat Khaylah crossing, where the broker files the customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list, before continuing to Ibri and the rest of Oman.
Cargo insurance
The road to Oman is one of the longest land routes from the Kingdom, crossing hundreds of kilometres of the Empty Quarter. So we pack for a long journey and recommend insuring cars, expensive appliances and antiques for a small percentage of their declared value, and we photograph your belongings before loading.
What cannot be shipped to Oman

- Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
- Narcotics, psychotropic substances, and medicines without a prescription and permission.
- Counterfeit goods and anything banned under either country’s rules.
- Fresh food and meat without health certificates.
- Loose lithium batteries by air.
