The shipment’s route from Riyadh to the UAE
| Stage | Details | Approx. time |
|---|---|---|
| Collection and packing | At your home in Riyadh, with dismantling and inventory | One day |
| Riyadh → Al Batha | About 600 km via Haradh | About one day |
| Crossing and clearance | Al Batha, then Ghuwaifat | Hours |
| Ghuwaifat → your address | The coastal road to Abu Dhabi, then Dubai and Sharjah | Hours to a day |
Riyadh is one of the cities our trucks leave for the UAE from most often, with several trips a week, so a few items do not wait long for a shared truck to fill, and a full home can move the day after packing if its papers are ready.
Which crossing does your shipment from Riyadh use?
| Saudi → UAE crossing | Location | Beyond it |
|---|---|---|
| Al Batha → Ghuwaifat | The far east of the Kingdom on the Abu Dhabi border | The coastal road to Ruwais and Abu Dhabi, then on to Dubai, Sharjah and the other emirates |
Al Batha is the only land crossing between the Kingdom and the UAE, and all Riyadh shipments pass through it to Ghuwaifat, then the coastal road to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the other emirates.

Who ships from Riyadh to the UAE?
Most of our customers on this route are employees moving with their work between Riyadh, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Emirati families who lived in Riyadh for work or study, companies moving offices or opening branches, and traders sending Saudi goods to UAE markets. Some buy furniture from Riyadh showrooms and send it to their flat in Dubai with the showroom invoice.
The relatively short distance means only a few days separate your home in Riyadh from your home in the UAE, so we time the loading so your belongings arrive on a day you are there.
Packing furniture in Riyadh

The road to the UAE crosses the desert, so we pack to withstand heat and vibration for long hours:
- Majlis seating and sofas in a layer of plastic, then moving blankets, with cushions in separate bags.
- Bedrooms and wardrobes dismantled, with each piece’s screws in a numbered bag.
- Screens in padded boxes, appliances in double-wall cartons.
- Dishes and crystal wrapped piece by piece in divided cartons.
- Fridges and washing machines emptied and dried a day before.
Loading in Riyadh and the truck type
At villas the truck stops at your door and is loaded in front of you; in apartment buildings we use the lift or an external hoist. We build the load in layers, heavy at the bottom and fragile on top, and strap it for a road of more than a thousand kilometres.

| Truck type | Best for | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Shared truck | Cartons, one or two rooms, a few appliances | Per kg, per item or per cubic metre |
| Private dyna or medium truck | A small flat or an office | One price for the whole trip |
| 13 to 15 m closed trailer | A villa or large home, or goods | One price for the whole trip |
| Refrigerated truck | Dates, food and sensitive medicines | Per pallet or per trip |
| Enclosed car carrier | One or more cars | Per car, by size |
A few items go on the shared truck with your own colour mark and number, so nothing gets mixed up at unloading.
Car shipping from Riyadh to the UAE
We collect your car from your home in Riyadh, photograph it from every side, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier that keeps desert sand off it all the way.

Registering an imported car in the UAE has conditions, usually chiefly that it is no more than ten years old from its year of manufacture, passes the technical inspection, and comes with an export certificate from the traffic department in the Kingdom and proof of ownership. A car already cleared through customs in a GCC country may be exempt from UAE customs duty on proof of that; otherwise duty and VAT apply. These conditions can change, so we review your car’s details before booking. Its papers from the Kingdom: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, the purchase invoice or sale contract, and a copy of your ID or iqama.
If you will drive your own car to the UAE for a visit and bring it back, that is an ordinary crossing at Al Batha with valid insurance covering the UAE and the car’s papers, and needs no shipping.
Delivery in the UAE
After release at Ghuwaifat the truck continues to your address in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Ain or elsewhere. The crew unloads the furniture, carries it inside using the freight lift in towers, and reassembles bedrooms and wardrobes if that is part of the agreement, and then you check the items against the packing list with us.

Air freight from Riyadh to the UAE
Urgent parcels and documents go by air from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Dubai International, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah airport, usually arriving in one to two working days including clearance.
Air suits:
- Documents, contracts and certificates.
- Small devices such as laptops and phones in their original boxes.
- Commercial samples and urgent spare parts.
- Gifts and light personal items.
It is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight; send us the weight and dimensions and we will work it out for you. A truck to the UAE arrives in a few days, so land is far cheaper for furniture and appliances.
Shipping goods from Riyadh to the UAE
For Riyadh traders and companies we ship packaged food, dates, personal-care products, appliances, spare parts and online-store products to the UAE. We stack the goods on wrapped pallets, prepare the invoice, GCC certificate of origin and packing list, and ship on a shared or full truck, refrigerated for sensitive items.
Riyadh districts we collect from
Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid, Al Sahafa and Hittin in the north; Al Olaya, Al Sulimaniyah, Al Malaz and Al Muruj in the centre; Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan, Al Sulay and Al Nadhim in the east; Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban and Tuwaiq in the west; Al Aziziyah, Al Shifa and Al Hazm in the south; plus Al Kharj, Diriyah and Al Muzahmiyah.
UAE customs and used furniture
Personal effects and used household furniture of someone moving to live in the UAE, whether a national or a resident, are usually exempt from customs duties if they are for private use, not trade. The broker at Ghuwaifat files them, and usually requires:
- A copy of the receiver’s passport and Emirates ID.
- A copy of a valid UAE residence for non-nationals.
- A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
- An official authorisation for the customs broker.
- Avoid shipping new boxed appliances in quantity, as they may be treated as goods.
Some items need prior permission, such as medicines in quantity. We tell you before packing so you can decide what to ship and what to carry with you.
GCC-origin goods and the customs exemption
Saudi Arabia and the UAE are members of the GCC customs union, and goods of GCC national origin enter the UAE free of customs duties when accompanied by a valid certificate of origin. Goods of foreign origin are treated under the customs union rules and may attract duties or UAE VAT depending on their situation. So we ask traders for the commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list before loading.
Documents required for shipping to the UAE
- A copy of the sender’s ID or iqama and passport.
- A copy of the receiver’s passport and Emirates ID.
- A numbered packing list.
- For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list.
- For cars: the export certificate from the traffic department and the purchase invoice.
- An authorisation for the clearing company in the UAE.
Crossing and clearance between Al Batha and Ghuwaifat
The truck leaves the Al Batha crossing once the export papers are stamped, then enters the Ghuwaifat crossing, where the broker files the customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list, before continuing on the coastal road to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Cargo insurance
The road to the UAE spends long hours in the desert, so we pack for a long journey and recommend insuring cars, expensive appliances and antiques for a small percentage of their declared value, and we photograph your belongings before loading.
What cannot be shipped to the UAE
- Flammable materials, gas cylinders and fuel.
- Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
- Narcotics and restricted medicines without a prescription and permission.
- Seeds and plants without agricultural permits.
- Counterfeit goods and anything banned under either country’s rules.
- Loose lithium batteries by air.
