Morocco in brief:

  • Sea: a shared container for one or two rooms, or 20 and 40 ft containers for a full home and a car.
  • Air: for parcels, documents and urgent items.
  • Permanent returnees: used belongings may be duty-free with a change-of-residence certificate.
  • Cars: inside a closed container, with duties depending on the car’s age and the owner’s status.

Shipping methods from Saudi Arabia to Morocco

Method Best for Approx. time
Shared container One or two rooms, cartons, appliances 28 – 40 days
20 ft container Small or medium flat, or a car 22 – 35 days
40 ft container Full house, or a car with furniture 22 – 35 days

The container leaves Jeddah or Dammam, passes the Suez Canal and crosses the whole Mediterranean, then the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier, or continues to Casablanca and Agadir on the Atlantic. Because the voyage is long, we choose the arrival port nearest your city so the road leg after it stays short.

Morocco is the furthest Arab destination by sea from the Kingdom

The sea distance to Morocco is longer than to any other Arab country we ship to, and ships often call at one or more transshipment ports before arriving. So we focus on three things: packing that withstands several rounds of loading and unloading, a clear inventory that speeds up inspection at the Moroccan port, and early booking so your belongings arrive when you want them.

Shipping furniture and personal effects to Morocco

Furniture packing from Saudi Arabia to Morocco
  • Salons and seating in plastic then moving blankets, cushions in bags.
  • Wardrobes and beds dismantled, with screws numbered.
  • Copperware, serving trays and teapots in padded boxes.
  • Appliances in double-wall cartons; the fridge and washer emptied and dried a day before.
  • Rugs rolled and tied, mirrors in protective frames.

Loading the container

We build the load in layers, heavy at the bottom and fragile on top, filling gaps so nothing moves on a long voyage, then the container is sealed and the seal number goes on the bill of lading.

Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Morocco

We ship the car inside a closed container, covered with a protective cover and secured with chocks and straps.

Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Morocco

Morocco allows the import of used cars with customs duties that vary by the car’s age, value and engine size, and a retired Moroccan returning permanently may benefit from a large reduction on these duties under the rules in force. So we review your case before booking. The car’s papers from the Kingdom: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, the purchase invoice, and copies of your passport and iqama.

Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Morocco

From the airports of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam to Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca within three to five working days, for documents, parcels, small devices and gifts. It’s charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight.

Delivery across Moroccan cities

We deliver to Casablanca, Rabat, Sale, Kenitra, Marrakech, Fes, Meknes, Tangier, Tetouan, Oujda, Agadir, El Jadida, Beni Mellal and Laayoune, and reassemble the furniture if that’s part of the agreement.

Customs exemption for returning Moroccans

A Moroccan living in the Kingdom who returns to settle in Morocco can usually bring in used furniture, appliances and personal effects free of duties, under conditions Moroccan customs usually apply as follows:

  • A change-of-residence certificate, or a sworn statement legalised by the Moroccan consulate in Riyadh or Jeddah.
  • Proof of your residence and work in the Kingdom, such as the iqama or employment contract.
  • A detailed inventory, dated and signed by you.
  • Household appliances are usually accepted at one per type, and other items have a value ceiling.
  • Belongings are imported in one or at most two shipments, through the same customs office, within a set period of the certificate date.

These conditions may be amended, so we write the inventory in Arabic and French to match what you’ll submit, and review the papers with the broker in Morocco before the container is closed.

Documents required

  • A copy of the sender’s passport and the receiver’s national ID card in Morocco.
  • A numbered inventory in Arabic and French.
  • The change-of-residence certificate for permanent returnees.
  • A commercial invoice and certificate of origin for goods.
  • Car export papers if any, and the bill of lading, which we issue at loading.

Cargo insurance

The voyage to Morocco is one of the longest sea routes from the Kingdom, passing the Suez Canal and then the Strait of Gibraltar. So we recommend cargo insurance as a percentage of the declared value, especially for cars and expensive appliances, and photograph your belongings before loading.

Prohibited and restricted items

  • Flammable materials, gas cylinders and fuel.
  • Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
  • Medicines in commercial quantities or without a prescription.
  • Fresh food, meat and plants.
  • Loose lithium batteries by air.
