Moving furniture from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

Moving your home from Saudi Arabia to Jordan? We survey and estimate the volume, dismantle the furniture, pack and number every piece, load it on a closed truck that reaches Amman in days, reassemble it in your new home, prepare the exemption file and move your car.

p>We move your home furniture from any city in the Kingdom to Jordan door to door: we survey and estimate the volume, dismantle the furniture, pack every piece with the right material and number it, and load it onto a closed truck that crosses at Al Haditha or Halat Ammar, usually reaching Amman in three to six working days, where we unload and reassemble it in your new home. We prepare your furniture exemption file with you if you are a Jordanian returning for good, and move your car on an enclosed carrier.

Moving your home to Jordan in a few lines:

  • Time: three to six working days by land to Amman depending on your city.
  • Truck: private for a full home, shared for one or two rooms.
  • Service: dismantling, packing, inventory and loading, then unloading and reassembly in Jordan.
  • Customs: a permanent returnee’s furniture is usually exempt, under conditions.
  • Car: on an enclosed carrier at about the same time.

How does moving furniture from Saudi Arabia to Jordan work?

Moving a home to another country is not a move across town, and the difference lies in the preparation before the truck moves. These are the stages as we carry them out:

  1. Survey: a visit or video call where we see the rooms and estimate the volume in cubic metres.
  2. Quote: an itemised price with what it covers, the truck type, the crossing and the loading date.
  3. Exemption file: we review your papers before loading if you are returning for good.
  4. Dismantling: bedrooms, wardrobes, kitchen, air conditioners and curtains.
  5. Packing and numbering: every piece in its material, every carton with a number and contents.
  6. Loading: in a single day for a full home, with the packing list checked.
  7. Road and crossing: the truck to the crossing, then clearance in Jordan.
  8. Delivery and reassembly: furniture carried to the rooms and reassembled, and the items checked with you.

How long moving furniture to Jordan takes

Collection city Crossing Approx. time to Amman
Riyadh Al Haditha 3 – 5 working days
Qassim Al Haditha 3 – 5 working days
Madinah Halat Ammar 3 – 5 working days
Jeddah Halat Ammar 4 – 6 working days
Makkah Halat Ammar 4 – 6 working days
Dammam Al Haditha 4 – 6 working days
Al Ahsa Al Haditha 4 – 6 working days

These times are for a private truck from loading day to delivery. A shared truck may wait a few days to fill, and we tell you its departure date when you book. Irbid and the north are reached about a day after Amman, and Aqaba and Maan sooner for those coming from the west.

What determines the price of a furniture move?

  • Volume in cubic metres: the number, size and type of rooms and pieces, the biggest factor.
  • Truck type: shared is cheaper, private is faster.
  • Collection city in the Kingdom: Riyadh, Qassim and Madinah are closer than Dammam and Al Ahsa.
  • Governorate in Jordan: Amman and Zarqa are not priced like Irbid and Aqaba.
  • Floor and lift: and whether we need an external hoist.
  • Dismantling and reassembly: especially kitchens, air conditioners and chandeliers.
  • Special packing: wooden crates for antiques and glass.
  • Insurance: if you choose it, as a percentage of value.

Photograph the rooms and send them on WhatsApp and we will estimate it for you.

Survey and volume estimate

Most price disputes come from a wrong volume estimate: a truck is agreed, then on loading day the furniture does not fit. So we survey before quoting, with a visit in the major cities or a video call where you walk us through the rooms one by one, and we ask about the store room, the roof and the garden, as these are often forgotten.

After the survey you receive a written quote stating the truck type, what the price covers and what it does not, so nothing surprises you in Jordan.

Dismantling furniture before the move

Whatever can be taken apart packs better, takes less space and arrives intact. So we dismantle:

  • Bedrooms: beds, bedside tables and dressing tables.
  • Wardrobes: each panel separately, with doors and shelves numbered.
  • Wooden and aluminium kitchens: if you are taking them, unit by unit.
  • Window and split air conditioners, with the split units’ gas recovered properly.
  • Curtains, fittings and wall-mounted screens.
  • Large dining tables and desks.

Each piece’s screws go in a bag labelled with its number, tied to the piece itself, so nothing is lost at reassembly.

Packing furniture piece by piece

Furniture packing from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
Item Packing material
Sofas and majlis seating Plastic, then moving blankets
Wooden panels Cardboard corners, then plastic or blankets
Glass and mirrors Protective frames or wooden crates
Dishes and crystal Wrapping paper for each piece, then divided cartons
Screens Dedicated padded boxes
Clothes Clothes cartons, or wardrobe boxes with hangers
Books Small reinforced cartons
Rugs Rolled, tied and wrapped in plastic
Chandeliers and antiques Wooden crates lined with foam

The road to Jordan is long, with heat and vibration, so we use heavier materials than for a move within the city, and put moisture-absorbing sachets in appliance and clothes cartons.

Numbering cartons and the packing list

The packing list is not a formality: it is what the broker in Jordan checks the load against, and what you check your belongings against on delivery. So we write on every carton its number, the room it came from and a short note of its contents, and record on the list:

  • The number of every piece or carton.
  • Its contents: clothes, dishes, books, toys.
  • Appliances by brand and type.
  • The condition of important pieces, with photos.

Loading the truck

We load a full home in a single day in most cases. Heavy at the bottom, fragile on top, mattresses and sofas along the sides, gaps filled and the load strapped. In apartment buildings we use the lift, or an external hoist for pieces that will not fit the stairs.

Loading the truck from Saudi Arabia to Jordan
Truck type Best for How it is priced
Shared truck One or two rooms, cartons, a few appliances Per item or per cubic metre
Private dyna or medium truck A small flat or an office One price for the whole trip
13 m closed trailer A villa or large home, or furniture with goods One price for the whole trip
Car carrier One or more cars Per car, by size

Before the truck is closed we check the load against the list and send you a photo of it.

Moving electrical appliances

  • Fridge and freezer: emptied and unplugged a day before to defrost and dry, and moved upright.
  • Washing machine: drained, with the drum fixed using transit bolts if available.
  • Split air conditioner: gas recovered and dismantled properly, with the two units packed separately.
  • Screens: in padded boxes, upright, not flat.
  • Small appliances: in their original boxes if available, or in padded cartons.

Moving your car with the furniture

We move your car on an enclosed car carrier close to the furniture’s date, after cleaning, photographing and covering it with a protective cover and securing it with straps and chocks.

Car shipping from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

Jordan sets conditions on importing used cars, the main one being the car’s age counted from its year of manufacture. These conditions are amended by government decisions from time to time, and duties differ between petrol, hybrid and electric cars and by engine size and value. So we send your car’s details to the broker in Jordan before booking and tell you what applies to it, so a car that cannot be cleared never sets off. Its papers from the Kingdom: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, the purchase invoice or sale contract, and a copy of your passport and iqama or ID.

If you will drive your own car to Jordan for a visit and bring it back, that is a temporary entry on a customs passbook (carnet/triptyque) and needs no shipping; a permanent move means exporting the car and shipping it on a carrier.

Will your furniture be exempt from Jordanian customs?

The question Jordanian families ask us most before shipping is about the exemption. The answer is that a permanent returnee’s furniture is usually exempt, under conditions set by the Jordan Customs Department, chiefly:

  • You have lived outside Jordan for a year or more.
  • Proof that your residence in the Kingdom has ended: a cancelled iqama, the end of your work contract or a resignation, a new work contract in Jordan, a certified lease or title deed for a home, or your children’s transfer to Jordanian schools.
  • The owner attends in person or by official authorisation, and the husband or wife has arrived in Jordan.
  • An original packing list of the furniture, appliances and items.
  • The exemption is granted once; anyone who used it and then went back to live abroad cannot get a new one until five years have passed.
  • Any furniture that follows later must arrive within six months of your arrival date.

Our advice is not to split the home across many shipments: put it in one truck whenever possible, which is easier to clear and cheaper. We review your papers with the broker before the truck moves.

Documents required for shipping to Jordan

  • A copy of the sender’s passport and iqama or ID, and a copy of the receiver’s ID in Jordan.
  • A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
  • Proof that your residence in the Kingdom has ended, for permanent returnees.
  • An authorisation for the clearing company in Jordan.
  • For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list.
  • For cars: export papers from the traffic department and the purchase invoice.

Crossing and customs clearance

We send copies of the papers to the broker in Jordan before the truck arrives, so preparation starts before it reaches the border. After inspection and release, the truck continues to your address, and we tell you its arrival a day ahead.

Items outside the exemption, such as commercial goods and new appliances in quantity, are subject to customs duties and Jordanian sales tax, and we explain that before loading, not after.

Delivery and reassembly at your home in Jordan

After release the truck continues to your address in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid or any other governorate, and we tell you its arrival a day ahead. The crew unloads the furniture and carries it to the rooms according to the numbers on the cartons, then reassembles beds, wardrobes and chandeliers, and removes the packing material if that is part of the agreement.

Delivery in Jordan from Saudi Arabia

Finally, you check the items against the packing list with us before signing for delivery.

Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan

Air freight from Saudi Arabia to Jordan goes from King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz in Jeddah, King Fahd in Dammam and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz in Madinah to Queen Alia Airport in Amman, or King Hussein Airport in Aqaba for some shipments, and usually takes one to three working days.

Air suits what is light and needed quickly:

  • Documents, university certificates and official papers.
  • Small devices such as laptops and phones in their original boxes.
  • Clothes, gifts and personal items you need as soon as you arrive.
  • Spare parts and commercial samples.

The price is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so a large light carton may be charged as if it were heavy. Send us the weight and dimensions and we will work out the chargeable weight for you. Many of our customers send a suitcase of urgent things by air and leave the rest of the home to the truck.

Preparation checklist before moving day

When What to do
Two weeks or more before Book the loading date, and start the papers ending your residence or work if you are returning.
A week before Decide what you will move and what you will sell or leave, and check Jordan’s conditions for your car.
Three days before Gather documents, gold and medicines in a bag that stays with you.
A day before Empty and dry the fridge and washing machine, and unplug the appliances.
Loading day Be there or have someone stand in for you, and check the list before the truck is closed.

Common mistakes we help you avoid

  • Estimating the volume by eye without a survey, then finding the truck is too small.
  • Splitting the home across many shipments, making clearance harder and costs higher.
  • Putting off shipping after you travel until the six-month window is nearly over.
  • Packing important documents inside the shipped cartons.
  • Shipping a car before confirming Jordan allows it to be cleared.
  • A generic packing list that does not match the load, delaying release.

Temporary storage

Sometimes you need to vacate your home in the Kingdom before your home in Jordan is ready. In that case we store your furniture, packed, in our warehouse until the date you set, then load and ship it. We remind you that the six-month exemption window starts on the day you arrive in Jordan, so we plan the storage not to go beyond it.

Protecting your belongings on the road

Good packing prevents most damage, and insurance covers what packing cannot. We offer it as a percentage of the shipment’s value and the choice is yours; either way, we photograph the important pieces before the truck is closed.

What cannot be shipped to Jordan

  • Flammable materials, gas cylinders, fuel and paints.
  • Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
  • Medicines in commercial quantities or without a prescription.
  • Fresh food, meat, plants and soil.
  • Loose lithium batteries by air.
  • Counterfeit goods or anything banned under either country’s rules.
