  • Time: three to five working days to Amman in most cases.

  • Urgent items: by air from King Khalid to Queen Alia Airport.

The shipment’s route from Riyadh to Jordan

Stage Details Approx. time
Collection and packing At your home in Riyadh, with dismantling and inventory One day
Riyadh → Al Haditha About 1,200 km via Qassim, Hail, Al Jouf and Al Qurayyat One to two days
Crossing and clearance Al Haditha, then Al Omari Hours to a day
Al Omari → your address Amman and Zarqa within hours, other governorates after One day

Riyadh is one of the cities our trucks leave for Jordan from most often, so we have departures roughly every week. That means a few items do not wait long for a shared truck to fill, and a full home can move the day after packing if its papers are ready.

Which crossing does your shipment from Riyadh use?

Saudi → Jordanian crossing Area Usually used by shipments from Closest to
Al Haditha → Al Omari Al Qurayyat, Al Jouf Riyadh, Qassim, the Eastern Province and Hail Amman, Zarqa, Mafraq and Irbid
Halat Ammar → Al Mudawwara Tabuk Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and Tabuk Maan, Aqaba, Karak and Tafilah, then Amman on the Desert Highway

Almost all Riyadh shipments leave through Al Haditha, which sits on the direct road north and leads to Al Omari, then Azraq, Zarqa and Amman. We only use Halat Ammar from Riyadh when a shipment is heading to Aqaba or Maan and that route is shorter.

Jordanian families in Riyadh

Riyadh has one of the largest Jordanian communities in the Kingdom: teachers, engineers, doctors and company staff, and many of them ship their homes when a contract ends or when their children move to universities in Jordan. They need three things: a loading date that fits their last working day, a tidy exemption file, and a truck that arrives when they are in Jordan, not weeks before them. We arrange all of this with you from the first call.

Some customers also send part of the home now and keep the rest until the end of the school year. In that case we remind you of the six-month window from your arrival date, so the second part does not fall outside the exemption.

Packing furniture in Riyadh

Furniture packing from Riyadh to Jordan

Riyadh homes are mostly villas and spacious flats with large majlis rooms and many bedrooms. We bring the right packing material for each type of furniture, number every piece and record its number on the packing list:

  • Majlis seating and sofas in plastic, then moving blankets, with cushions in separate bags.
  • Bedrooms and wardrobes dismantled, with each piece’s screws in a bag labelled with its number.
  • Large screens in dedicated boxes lined with foam.
  • Serving sets, coffee pots and cups in divided cartons.
  • Fridges and washing machines emptied and dried a day before, with their doors secured.

Loading in Riyadh and the truck type

At villas the truck stops at your door and is loaded in front of you; in apartment buildings we use the lift or an external hoist for pieces that will not fit the stairs. We build the load in layers, heavy at the bottom and fragile on top, fill the gaps and strap the load so nothing moves on a long road.

Loading the truck from Riyadh to Jordan
Truck type Best for How it is priced
Shared truck One or two rooms, cartons, a few appliances Per item or per cubic metre
Private dyna or medium truck A small flat or an office One price for the whole trip
13 m closed trailer A villa or large home, or furniture with goods One price for the whole trip
Car carrier One or more cars Per car, by size

If your belongings will not fill a truck, we load them on a shared truck with other shipments, each customer with a set space, a colour mark and a number, so nothing gets mixed up at unloading.

Car shipping from Riyadh to Jordan

We collect your car from your home in Riyadh, photograph it from every side, fit a protective cover, then load it onto an enclosed car carrier and secure it with straps and chocks, so it crosses the road to Jordan free of dust and scratches.

Car shipping from Riyadh to Jordan

Jordan sets conditions on importing used cars, the main one being the car’s age counted from its year of manufacture. These conditions are amended by government decisions from time to time, and duties differ between petrol, hybrid and electric cars and by engine size and value. So we send your car’s details to the broker in Jordan before booking and tell you what applies to it, so a car that cannot be cleared never sets off. Its papers from the Kingdom: a valid registration, no fines or liens, an export request through Absher or the traffic department with the plates handed in, the purchase invoice or sale contract, and a copy of your passport and iqama or ID.

If you will drive your own car to Jordan for a visit and bring it back, that is a temporary entry on a customs passbook (carnet/triptyque) and needs no shipping; a permanent move means exporting the car and shipping it on a carrier.

Delivery in Jordan

After release at Al Omari the truck continues to your address in Amman, Zarqa, Salt, Irbid or any other governorate. A crew arrives with it to unload the furniture, carry it inside and reassemble bedrooms and wardrobes if that is part of the agreement, and then you check the pieces against the packing list with us.

Delivery in Jordan from Riyadh

Air freight from Riyadh to Jordan

When a shipment cannot wait for the road trip, we send it by air from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, usually arriving in one to three working days including clearance.

Air suits what is light and needed quickly:

  • Documents, university certificates and official papers.
  • Small devices such as laptops and phones in their original boxes.
  • Clothes, gifts and personal items you need as soon as you arrive.
  • Spare parts and commercial samples.

The price is charged on the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so a large light carton may be charged as if it were heavy. Send us the weight and dimensions and we will work out the chargeable weight for you. Furniture and large appliances are far cheaper by land and arrive only a few days later.

Shipping goods from Riyadh to Jordan

For traders and companies in Riyadh we ship appliances, packaged food, dates, personal-care products and spare parts to Jordan, on a shared truck for small quantities or a full truck for large ones. We stack the goods on wrapped pallets, prepare the commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list, and send them to the broker before the truck reaches the border.

Riyadh districts we collect from

Al Malqa, Al Narjis, Al Yasmin, Al Arid, Al Sahafa and Al Qairawan in the north; Al Olaya, Al Sulimaniyah, Al Malaz and Al Murabba in the centre; Al Rawdah, Al Naseem, Al Rayyan, Al Sulay and Al Nadhim in the east; Al Suwaidi, Dhahrat Laban, Tuwaiq and Namar in the west; Al Aziziyah, Al Shifa, Al Hazm and Badr in the south; plus Al Kharj, Diriyah and Al Muzahmiyah.

Furniture exemption for returning Jordanian expatriates

A Jordanian expatriate who ends their residence in the Kingdom and returns to settle in Jordan can bring in their furniture and household items free of duties, under conditions set by the Jordan Customs Department, chiefly:

  • You have lived outside Jordan for a year or more.
  • Proof that your residence in the Kingdom has ended: a cancelled iqama, the end of your work contract or a resignation, a new work contract in Jordan, a certified lease or title deed for a home, or your children’s transfer to Jordanian schools.
  • The owner attends in person or by official authorisation, and the husband or wife has arrived in Jordan.
  • An original packing list of the furniture, appliances and items.
  • The exemption is granted once; anyone who used it and then went back to live abroad cannot get a new one until five years have passed.
  • Any furniture that follows later must arrive within six months of your arrival date.

These conditions may be amended, so we write the packing list to match the truck item by item and review your file with the broker in Jordan before loading. We also time the shipment with your travel so you are in Jordan when your belongings arrive.

Documents required for shipping to Jordan

  • A copy of the sender’s passport and iqama or ID, and a copy of the receiver’s ID in Jordan.
  • A numbered packing list with the contents of every carton and item.
  • Proof that your residence in the Kingdom has ended, for permanent returnees.
  • An authorisation for the clearing company in Jordan.
  • For goods: a commercial invoice, certificate of origin and packing list.
  • For cars: export papers from the traffic department and the purchase invoice.

Clearance at the Al Omari crossing

The truck leaves the Saudi side on an export declaration prepared in advance, then enters Jordan, where the broker files the customs declaration and the load is checked against the packing list. When the list is accurate and the exemption is ready, all of this goes quickly.

Items outside the exemption, such as commercial goods and new appliances in quantity, are subject to customs duties and Jordanian sales tax, and we explain that before loading, not after.

Cargo insurance

The road to Jordan is long, crossing hundreds of kilometres of desert, so we pack for a long journey, not a move across town. Even so, we recommend insuring the shipment for a small percentage of its declared value, especially cars, expensive appliances and antiques, and we photograph your belongings before loading.

What cannot be shipped to Jordan

  • Flammable materials, gas cylinders, fuel and paints.
  • Weapons, ammunition and anything resembling them.
  • Medicines in commercial quantities or without a prescription.
  • Fresh food, meat, plants and soil.
  • Loose lithium batteries by air.
  • Counterfeit goods or anything banned under either country’s rules.
