Bride’s Trousseau Moving Company in Jeddah | From Showrooms and the Family Home to the New Home in Closed Trucks, with Assembly

Bride's trousseau moving in Jeddah

Bride's trousseau moving in Jeddah from showrooms and the family home to the new home, across every Jeddah district and on to Makkah, Taif and Riyadh: closed trucks, new furniture, perfumes and crystal packed, boxes labelled, the bedroom assembled, curtains hung and the home arranged.

p>In Jeddah, a bride’s trousseau faces two things that are hard on new furniture: sea humidity and summer heat, plus residential towers with lifts and corridors that need planning before a full bedroom set can go through them. We move the bride’s trousseau, known locally as dabsh, across Jeddah from showrooms, appliance stores and the family home to the marital home in closed vehicles. We pack every piece for a humid road, book the service lift and protect the corridors, then assemble the furniture, hang the curtains and arrange the house so it is handed over ready to live in.

What goes into a bride’s trousseau?

Every family’s trousseau is different, but in Jeddah it usually includes the bedroom set, sofas and dining set, electrical appliances, bedding, curtains and rugs, serving sets and crystal, the bride’s personal boxes with her clothes, perfumes and make-up, and wrapped gifts and decorated boxes. Each type has its own way of being moved:

Type How we move it
New furniture Dismantled where needed, double-wrapped, and assembled in the home
Appliances Upright and secured inside the vehicle, with AC units fitted by an installation technician
Crystal and serving sets Packing paper and divided cartons on top of the load
Clothes and the dress Hanging in their garment bags or folded in sealed boxes
Perfumes and make-up An upright padded box away from heat
Decorated boxes and gifts Moved as they are without opening, with nothing placed on top

Jeddah’s humidity and heat: why a closed vehicle is a must

Jeddah’s damp air gets into fabric, wood and leather when they travel in an open truck, the summer sun heats a load quickly, and perfumes, candles and make-up suffer from it. So we move the trousseau in a clean closed box, wrap upholstered pieces in film that keeps the moisture out, stand perfumes upright in a padded box, and schedule longer trips for early morning or evening rather than midday.

Tip: do not leave boxes of clothes and bedding in a car parked in the sun while you shop. Hand them to us sealed at the family home and we will take them straight over.

Steps of the trousseau move, from the first box to a ready home

1. The list and the plan

Together we write the trousseau list and where each piece stands: which showroom it is at, when it will be ready, and which room it goes in. This list is what we check against at handover.

2. Sorting by type

We separate fragile pieces from heavy ones, and personal belongings from kitchen items, so each type is packed in the right material and nothing heavy ends up on something light.

3. Packing

White packing paper for crystal and serving sets, film and a fabric cover for sofas and the headboard, foam corners for mirrors and glass, and divided boxes for perfumes.

4. Labelling

Every box carries a number, the name of its room and a short note of its contents in clear handwriting, so it goes straight to its place on arrival.

5. Loading in reverse order

Whatever enters the house first is loaded last: the large furniture to be assembled comes off before the boxes, so the rooms are not cluttered before assembly.

Towers, lifts and compounds in Jeddah

Moving the bedroom set up the service lift in Jeddah

Many new marital homes in Jeddah are apartments in towers on the Corniche or in Al Shati, Al Muhammadiyah, Al Zahra and Al Marjan, or in residential compounds with security and entry permits. These need planning ahead:

  • Service lift: we ask you to book it with the tower management for the moving hours.
  • Protecting corridors: we line the lift walls and corridors with blankets so they are not scratched.
  • Entry permit: compounds ask for the driver’s name and vehicle plate in advance.
  • Large pieces: we measure the lift and the door, and dismantle whatever needs it before going up.
  • Floors without a lift: in older buildings we add workers to carry everything up the stairs.

Assembly, curtains and setting up the bedroom

Assembling the bride's bedroom in a new Jeddah apartment

We assemble the bed, wardrobes and dresser, adjust the doors and drawers and make sure every piece stands level. We hang curtains in the bedrooms and living room on firmly fixed rails, and put the appliances in their places. If you ask, we stack the kitchenware in the cupboards, lay out the rugs and arrange the seating the way you want. The bride’s personal boxes we leave sealed in her room, so she can open and arrange them to her own taste.

Arranging the living room and majlis

Arranging the living room and laying rugs in the bride's Jeddah home

The living room is the first thing guests see in the new home. We lay the rugs before the sofas, place the seating so the walkway stays wide, assemble the TV unit and fix it to the wall if it is wall-mounted, and remove the protective wrapping only at the end, once the work is done, so the light-coloured fabric stays clean.

When to book, and how long the move takes

Stage Timing or duration
Booking At least two weeks before the wedding, and earlier in wedding season
Moving the furniture and assembly Seven to ten days before the wedding
Packing and moving within Jeddah Two to four hours for an average trousseau
Arranging the home One to three hours, depending on what you ask for
Jeddah to Makkah or Taif Usually one day, including unloading

From Jeddah to Makkah, Taif and other cities

If the marital home is outside Jeddah, we move the trousseau to Makkah from SAR 1,840, to Taif from SAR 2,300, to Riyadh from SAR 3,220, and to Madinah, Yanbu and other cities at a price set once we know the size. We pack for the long road, agree the arrival time with the groom’s family, and assemble and arrange everything there.

The bride’s gifts to a distant city or abroad: air freight

Small gifts, or part of the trousseau for relatives in a distant city or another country, do not need a truck. We collect them packed and send them by air freight from King Abdulaziz Airport, so they arrive within days. And for a bride moving with her whole trousseau to a Gulf country, it can go by land, for example shipping from Jeddah to Qatar.

How we differ from an ordinary furniture move

  • The vehicle is always closed, never an open truck.
  • Packing is cleaner and has more layers, because the pieces are new.
  • Personal belongings travel sealed and are placed in their room without being opened.
  • Trips are planned between the showrooms, the family home and the new home.
  • The job ends with an arranged home, not with furniture left at the door.

Mistakes that spoil the joy of a new home

  • Booking late: in wedding season, dates are taken early.
  • Not booking the lift: waiting hours for the residents’ lift wastes the moving day.
  • Buying furniture that will not fit in the lift: measure before you buy.
  • Putting gold and documents in the boxes: they stay with the bride or her family.
  • Moving the boxes before assembly: the rooms fill up and everything is delayed.
  • Switching on the fridge as soon as it arrives: leave it a few hours before turning it on.

Privacy of the bride’s belongings

A large part of the trousseau is the bride’s personal belongings: clothes, the dress, perfumes, make-up and private gifts. We respect that at every step. We receive these boxes sealed as the family packed them, we never open or rearrange them, we carry them separately from the furniture and appliances, and we place them in the bride’s room exactly as they are. If the family would like one of its members present when these boxes are put in place, we schedule the visit around that.

Moving new appliances and air conditioners

New appliances come from the store in their cartons, and we keep them boxed until they reach their spot. The fridge travels upright and is not switched on until it has stood for a few hours, the washing machine goes next to the water outlet, and the oven is left for the gas technician. New air conditioners need an installation technician for the piping and wall openings, and we arrange for one to come on assembly day so the house is cool before the bedding is spread and the curtains go up.

What we need from you before moving day

  • A list of the pieces and where each one is: which showroom, which store, and what is at the family home.
  • Contact details for the showrooms and when each piece will be ready.
  • The service lift booked, and the compound entry permit if there is one.
  • Window measurements, if the curtains are to be hung the same day.
  • Personal boxes sealed and marked with the name of the room.
  • Gold and important documents kept out of the boxes, with the bride or her family.

The handover check

Before we leave, we go through the list with you: the number of boxes and where they are, the furniture, mirrors and glass undamaged, the bed and wardrobes standing firm, the dresser’s drawers and doors working, and the curtains hung. Anything you point out we fix on the spot, and if a piece has to be replaced by the showroom, we arrange its collection and assembly with you.
